Monday 17 August 2009 - Monday 31 August 2009 (14 nights)
Paradise Sandy Beach Resort, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

(Information below from the parent Zhong Ding site.)

Following the successful celebrations of 20 years of Zhong Ding with the Official Opening of our Pulau Pinang Training Centre in 2008, Zhong Ding International will be celebrating its 21st Birthday with a grand festival of taijiquan.

The venue will be the Paradise Sandy Beach Resort on beautiful Pulau Pinang. During the 15 days (14 nights) at the four star resort, course participants will enjoy luxurious accommodation, beautiful beaches and the excellent cuisine for which Penang Island is famed.

Intensive instruction will be given in all aspects of Zhong Ding Taijiquan including the teachings and legacy of Master Liang He Qing, Master Lau Kim Hong, Master Lee Bian Lei, Master Xu Shu Song and Master Tan Ching Ngee. Special instruction will be given in the Yang style long form of Master Liang He Qing together with the complementary fast and qigong forms.

In addition special guests will introduce the participants to how their practice of taijiquan has informed the main arts that they practice.

This will be an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of the taijiquan of the Zhong Ding Association, whilst meeting old friends and making new ones.

The highpoint of the festival will be a Gala Day of Taijiquan featuring experts and exponents from several different styles of taijiquan, offering seminars and performances.

So start saving now and book your place early. Earlybird, instructor and group discounts are available. For details contact Nigel at ncs8@tm.net.my or speak to your instructor.

Brian Robson with Certificate
Brian Robson - 4th Duan

At a recent Seminar conducted by Master Nigel Sutton, Brian Robson, Senior instructor at our Kingskerswell class, was promoted to Master Instructor 4th Duan.

Brian has been practising Tai Chi for over twenty years, and is one of the founding members of Zhong Ding South West.

He is not only an excellent teacher, but a superb practitioner of our art, both technically and in his conduct.

We are sure everyone will join in congratulating Brian for this much-deserved award.

The Peter Harris Award

Barbara Ridler with her award
Barbara with the Peter Harris Award

On 18th September 2008 our friend and fellow Tai Chi student Peter Harris died after a short illness. Peter was an assistant instructor in the Kingskerswell class, and is sadly missed.

In honour of Peter's memory, the 'Peter Harris Perpetual Award For Student Of The Year' was created. This award will be presented at the end of each year to the student who, in the Instructors' opinion, has shown the biggest improvement as well as the most dedication. All senior instructors are eligible to vote for their candidate.

The inaugural award went to Barbara Ridler. Barbara is from the Kingskerswell class, but for several years trained with Mike Bearne in Kingsteignton. She recently had a 'special' birthday, but her energy and enthusiasm would put anyone half her age to shame!

Barbara passed her full Instructors exam at a recent seminar, and is a shining example to us all of what can be achieved with dedication.
